All India Gujjar Mahasabha Advocates for Reservation Rights

Faridabad: On July 1, 2024:  the All India Gujjar Mahasabha (Established 1908) convened a significant event under the chairmanship of Dr. Yashveer Singh at the Constitutional Club in Delhi. The program welcomed and honored newly elected Gujjar community members, including three ministers, MPs and Rajya Sabha members, and 15 officers selected in the Indian Administrative Service in 2023.

The All India Gujjar Mahasabha passed three resolutions today:

1. *Demand for MBBS Reservation in Rajasthan*: Following prolonged agitation in Rajasthan, the Gujjar community seeks 5% reservation under MBBS. This issue is pending in court, and they urge the Indian government to include it in the 9th Schedule.

2. *Justice for Ghumantu and Vimukta Jatis*: After a long struggle, the Indian government formed a commission for the upliftment of Ghumantu and Vimukta Jatis. Despite recommendations by the commission’s last chairman, Shri Iddate, the government has not implemented them fully. The Mahasabha urges a reconsideration of this report to ensure justice for these communities.

3. *Implementation of Rohini Commission Report*: Ten years ago, the Rohini Commission was formed to rationalize the 27% reservation for backward classes based on various social and educational parameters. The Mahasabha demands immediate implementation of the commission’s recommendations to ensure justice for the Gujjar community.

Vinay Pradhan, the national spokesperson, highlighted that the Mahasabha honored 15 top achievers from the civil services (UPSC) in their recent event, symbolizing the community’s focus on education and achievement.

Dr. Yashveer Singh presided over the meeting, with executive members of the All India Gujjar Mahasabha and former UP Minister Shri Harishchandra Bhati addressing the gathering on current societal issues and the Mahasabha’s objectives. The meeting was also addressed by various prominent figures including Dr. Jile Singh, Ram Kishor Dogale, Ramkesh Chaprana, and others who contributed to steering the discussions.
