Indian Military Counters Pakistani Drone and Munition Barrage Across Western Frontier

New Delhi : Indian Armed Forces successfully thwarted multiple coordinated attacks launched by Pakistan targeting northern and western Indian cities using drones, missiles, and other munitions late last night. These attempts were accompanied by several ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Indian Army, a befitting and strong response was given to the ceasefire violations. The Army reiterated its firm commitment to safeguarding India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, asserting that all hostile actions will be met with decisive force.

In a statement, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff confirmed that Pakistan attempted to target key military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, as well as civilian areas near the International Border. However, all threats were effectively neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces, and no casualties have been reported.

Defence sources revealed that eight missiles were fired from Pakistan targeting locations including Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia in Jammu and Kashmir. All incoming missiles were successfully intercepted and blocked by Indian Air Defence Units. The visuals of the attack bore resemblance to the tactics used by terror outfit Hamas during strikes on Israel, with sources stating that the Pakistan Army’s conduct mirrors that of such terrorist organisations.

The Defence Ministry also dismissed reports suggesting a suicide attack had occurred at Pathankot or Rajouri. Separately, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a significant infiltration attempt along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district last night, preventing a possible terror strike.

Amid escalating tensions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held detailed discussions with the Directors General of the BSF and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to assess the border situation and enhance airport security across key cities.

In a special joint media briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri clarified that India has no intention of escalating the situation but is compelled to respond to ongoing aggression. He emphasised that Indian retaliatory action was directed strictly at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which marked the initial escalation.
