New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed optimism that his upcoming visit to the United States will provide an opportunity to build on the successful collaboration with President Donald Trump during his first term. PM Modi, who is scheduled to depart for France this evening to co-chair a summit on artificial intelligence, will embark on a two-day visit to the US afterward.
Reflecting on his 2019 trip to the US during Trump’s presidency, PM Modi conveyed that he eagerly anticipates reconnecting with his “friend” Trump. This upcoming meeting, which will be their first since Trump’s historic re-election and inauguration, comes with a sense of continuity in the relationship between the two leaders.
“I have very warm recollections of working together during President Trump’s first term, particularly in building a Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership between India and the United States,” said PM Modi in a statement. He acknowledged the mutual achievements during that period and emphasized that the upcoming visit will be a chance to continue enhancing the bilateral ties.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the visit will focus on expanding the partnership across various sectors. “This visit will be an opportunity to build upon the successes of our collaboration during his first term and to set a forward-looking agenda,” PM Modi stated. He highlighted key areas of potential cooperation, including technology, trade, defence, energy, and supply chain resilience, which are pivotal to strengthening the strategic relationship between the two countries.
In his statement, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of India and the US working together to benefit not only their own citizens but also the global community. “The two leaders will work together for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries and contribute to shaping a better future for the world,” PM Modi added.
The India-US partnership has grown considerably over the past few years, with collaboration in diverse fields such as space exploration, clean energy, and defence. PM Modi’s upcoming visit is seen as a crucial step toward further enhancing the strategic ties between the two countries and forging new pathways for global cooperation.
