NEW DELHI, 15th November, 2024– On the auspicious occasion of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s Prakash Parv, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi visited Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib Gurudwara in the capital on Thursday. The visit was a significant part of the celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, whose teachings of love, equality, and brotherhood have resonated through centuries.
During her visit, CM Atishi offered prayers at the Gurudwara and sought blessings for the prosperity and well-being of the people of Delhi. As a mark of respect and devotion, she also presented a ‘Rumala Sahib’ to Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the central religious scripture of Sikhism, and participated in the Kirtan at the Gurudwara, joining the congregation in the spiritual chants that are central to Sikh worship.
In her message to the people of Delhi, CM Atishi extended her heartfelt greetings on the occasion of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv. She spoke about the timeless relevance of the teachings of Guru Nanak, noting that although Guru Nanak Dev Ji lived centuries ago, his message of love, unity, and equality holds even greater significance in today’s world.
“Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message is as pertinent now as it ever was. He came into this world at a time when society was divided by class and caste, but his teachings emphasized the equality of all people,” said CM Atishi during her visit. “He showed us the path of equality, teaching us that no one is superior or inferior, and that we are all equal in the eyes of the Almighty.”
Highlighting the power of Guru Nanak’s teachings in shaping a better future, CM Atishi expressed confidence that if everyone embraced the path of equality, unity, and love as shown by Guru Nanak, India would continue to make remarkable strides toward progress. “If we all walk on the path shown by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, no one can stop India from progressing and becoming the number one country in the world,” she emphasized.
The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of adopting the values instilled by Guru Nanak, not just for personal growth, but also for the collective well-being of the nation. “Guru Nanak’s teachings are a guide to creating a society where peace and harmony prevail. His vision of a society where all people are treated equally, irrespective of their background, is something we should all strive to uphold,” she added.
As part of her visit, CM Atishi shared moments from the event on X (formerly Twitter), conveying her heartfelt blessings for the people of Delhi. “On the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Parv, visited Gurudwara Sri Rakab Ganj Sahib and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of Delhiites.
