PM Modi Expresses Condolences for Anakapalli Tragedy, Announces Rs 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia for Each Victim

News Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident involving a reactor blast at a pharmaceutical company in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh. The explosion, which occurred at the facility, resulted in the loss of 17 lives and left several others injured.

In response to this devastating event, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives. Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be provided to those who sustained injuries in the blast. This financial support is intended to offer some relief to the affected families and individuals during this challenging time.

In a message shared on X, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed his hope for the swift recovery of the injured. He underscored the importance of providing necessary support and care to those impacted by the tragedy.

The blast at the pharma company highlights the urgent need for stringent safety measures and regulations in industrial operations to prevent such catastrophic events in the future. Rescue efforts are ongoing at the site of the tragic factory mishap in Anakapalle. Andhra Pradesh Minister Vasamsetti Subhash reported that dense smoke is obstructing the rescue teams’ access to the premises, leaving several individuals potentially trapped inside. The minister assured that the teams are working diligently to reach those affected and will provide further updates as the situation develops.

“Rescue teams are currently unable to enter the premises due to dense smoke, and operations are in progress. It is unclear how many people may still be trapped inside the company. Efforts are being made to reach them as soon as possible, and further updates will be provided soon,” the Minister stated.
