Rajasthan CM Announces Reservations for Agniveers in Police, Prisons, and Forest Services

State Governments Implement Measures to Integrate Agniveers into Various Uniformed Services

New Delhi, July 27 2024 :  Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has announced that his government will provide reservations for Agniveers in the state’s police department, prison service, and forest guards once they complete their tenure with the Indian Army. The move is aimed at recognizing the contributions of Agniveers under the Agnipath scheme.

In a statement, CM Sharma paid homage to the Kargil War veterans on its 25th anniversary and expressed pride in supporting the Agniveers. “I bow down to the bravehearts of the Kargil War. In line with PM Modi’s Agniveer scheme, our government will offer reservations in police, prison, and forest guard positions,” Sharma said.

Similarly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that his state would prioritize recruiting Agniveers into the Assam Police. “Assam stands with Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to modernize the Indian Army. We will absorb most Agniveers from the state into the police force,” Sarma declared on X.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi introduced a 10 percent quota and a five-year age relaxation for Agniveers seeking positions in uniform services. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also revealed that Agniveers would receive reservations in state police and armed forces recruitment.

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Agniveers would be given weightage in recruitment for the UP Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). He highlighted the benefits of integrating trained and disciplined young soldiers into these forces.

Furthermore, former Agniveers will receive a 10 percent reservation, age relaxation, and exemption from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Services Selection Board (SSB), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Director General (DG) of CRPF, Anish Dayal Singh, confirmed that arrangements for recruiting ex-Agniveers are already in place.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the significance of the Agnipath scheme during his address on Kargil Vijay Diwas. He emphasized that the scheme is part of broader reforms needed in the defense sector. “The Agnipath scheme represents necessary reforms to make the Army younger and more efficient,” Modi said, reflecting on the long-standing discussions and demands for such changes in the military.
