New Delhi May 15 2026: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually laid the foundation stone for a new Sahasra Semiconductor manufacturing facility as part of a broader industrial development package worth over ₹400 crore, reinforcing India’s push toward advanced manufacturing and technology driven growth.
The launch forms part of multiple industrial initiatives aimed at strengthening domestic production capacity, promoting investment, and accelerating employment generation. The semiconductor facility is expected to play an important role in expanding India’s electronics and chip manufacturing ecosystem, a sector receiving significant policy focus under national self reliance and industrial expansion goals.
Alongside the semiconductor project, several other industrial developments were also initiated, reflecting a larger strategy to build infrastructure, encourage private investment, and position India as a competitive manufacturing hub.
The minister highlighted that such projects are critical for boosting technological capabilities, attracting industrial partnerships, and supporting the country’s long term economic growth trajectory. The developments are also aligned with India’s broader strategy of enhancing semiconductor capacity and reducing dependence on imports in critical technology sectors.
