Authorities have introduced several comfort-focused measures, including expanded shaded walkways and improved resting areas, making it easier for families and tourists to explore the zoo even during peak heat. These changes are part of a broader effort to transform the zoo into a more visitor-friendly and climate-responsive space.

A major highlight of the upgrade is the installation of sprinklers and water mist systems in enclosures housing big cats such as lions and Bengal Tiger. These cooling mechanisms help maintain a comfortable microclimate, encouraging the animals to remain active despite rising temperatures.

The zoo has also introduced redesigned, bilingual information boards that combine education with technology. These boards provide detailed insights into animal species, including physical characteristics, habitat, and conservation status, while also featuring QR codes for additional digital content. The initiative aims to make learning more engaging, especially for younger visitors.

Clear and prominently placed signages have been added across the park to promote responsible behaviour. Visitors are reminded not to feed animals or cross safety barriers, with references to the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 to reinforce compliance.

Animal habitats have also been upgraded, particularly aquatic enclosures. Regular maintenance and replenishment of water bodies ensure cleaner and cooler conditions for species like crocodiles and hippos, helping them regulate body temperature effectively.

One of the most popular attractions remains the elephant bathing sessions, where visitors can watch caretakers shower the animals using high-pressure water jets. Beyond entertainment, this activity plays an important role in maintaining the elephants’ health by keeping their skin hydrated and body temperature stable.

Visitors have welcomed the changes, noting that the combination of comfort, safety, and interactive learning has made the zoo experience more enjoyable and educational.

With these upgrades, Delhi Zoo is positioning itself as a modern, eco-conscious destination that balances public engagement with animal care.
