NEW DELHI, 30 JUNE: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, is leading the Indian delegation from the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, on an official visit to Spain, Portugal, and Brazil from June 30 to July 5, 2025. The visit underscores India’s commitment to global economic collaboration, sustainable development, and multilateral partnerships.
In Seville, Spain, the Finance Minister will attend the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) organized by the United Nations, where she will deliver India’s official statement. She will also participate in the International Business Forum Leadership Summit, delivering a keynote address on “From FFD4 Outcome to Implementation: Unlocking the Potential of Private Capital for Sustainable Development.”
On the sidelines of the FFD4, Sitharaman is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with senior ministers from Germany, Peru, and New Zealand, as well as the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Continuing her visit in Lisbon, Portugal, the Finance Minister is expected to meet with Portugal’s Minister of Finance. She will also engage with leading investors and members of the Indian diaspora to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore investment opportunities.
In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Smt. Sitharaman will address the 10th Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) in her capacity as India’s Governor. Additionally, she will attend the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting and speak at the NDB’s Flagship Governors Seminar on “Building a Premier Multilateral Development Bank for the Global South.”
Bilateral meetings with finance ministers from Brazil, China, Indonesia, and Russia are also planned, reflecting India’s active engagement in fostering global financial and strategic partnerships.
