The Impressive TimesNew Delhi– The grand finale of the 1st All India Police Cricket T-20 Tournament 2024-25, hosted by Delhi Police, witnessed an exhilarating contest between the Delhi Police Team and the Uttar Pradesh Police Team at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Delhi Police, after winning the toss, elected to field first. In the first innings, UP Police scored 164 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, setting a target of 165 runs for Delhi Police. In response, Delhi Police achieved the target in just 15.5 overs, losing only 2 wickets, and defeated UP Police by 8 wickets to secure the prestigious title. The captain of Delhi Police, SI Manish, was declared Man of the Match for his unbeaten 82 runs.
The Delhi Police bowlers displayed an impressive performance, containing the opposition with disciplined bowling and sharp fielding. In response, the Delhi Police batting lineup rose to the occasion, with top-order batsmen delivering match-winning performances. SI Manish, Sunil Sehwag, and Arun Kataria played pivotal roles, steering the team to victory with stellar innings.
The Chief Guest, Sh. Tapan Kumar Deka, along with Delhi Police Commissioner Sh. Sanjay Arora and other senior police officials, presented the winners’ trophy to the Delhi Police Team. They applauded both teams for their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship. Sh. Neeraj Thakur, Spl. CP/APD, Sh. M.N. Tiwari, Jt. CP/AP, and Sh. Rajendra Singh Sagar, Addl. CP/AP (Organizing Secretary), congratulated the team for their outstanding performance throughout the tournament and emphasized the importance of such tournaments in promoting physical fitness and teamwork among police personnel.
The tournament, organized to foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and fitness among police personnel, saw participation from top police teams across the country. After a series of competitive matches held in various states, Delhi Police and UP Police advanced to the final showdown, showcasing exceptional cricketing skills.
