New York, July 14 (UNI) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump reported on social media that he was shot during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social. He described hearing a whizzing sound and feeling the bullet rip through his skin, causing significant bleeding.
In his post, Trump mentioned that one person was killed at the rally and another was badly injured. He added that the shooter, whose identity remains unknown, is now deceased.
The U.S. Secret Service released a statement detailing the incident: “During former President Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on the evening of July 13th at approximately 6:15 p.m., a suspected shooter fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the rally venue. U.S. Secret Service personnel neutralized the shooter, who is now deceased. The former president is safe and being evaluated.”
The statement also confirmed that one spectator was killed and two others were critically injured. The incident is under investigation, and the Secret Service has notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
U.S. President Joe Biden commented on the shooting, saying, “I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.”
