Aam Aadmi Party Celebrates Resounding Victory in Punjab By-Elections

New Delhi, July 13: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has secured a decisive victory in the Jalandhar West assembly by-election, with their candidate Mohinder Bhagat winning by a significant margin of 38,000 votes. Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh lauded the victory, emphasizing that it underscores the unwavering faith of the people of Punjab in the Bhagwant Mann government.

Sanjay Singh highlighted that this win sends a clear message that betrayal of the Aam Aadmi Party will end political careers. He pointed to Sheetal Angural, who defected to the BJP and faced a crushing defeat as a result. “AAP workers had made Sheetal Angural win with hard work, but he betrayed and went to the BJP and now he had to face a crushing defeat,” said Singh.

Dr. Sandeep Pathak, AAP National General Secretary (Organisation), echoed Singh’s sentiments, stating that the victory reaffirms the success of Arvind Kejriwal’s governance model and serves as a strong rebuke to the BJP. “The victory of Jalandhar West has stamped Kejriwal’s politics of work and has slapped the BJP hard,” Pathak remarked. He also noted that the people of Punjab have expressed their satisfaction with the work of Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Sanjay Singh praised the collective effort of the AAP’s organization, attributing the victory to the relentless campaigning by CM Bhagwant Mann, ministers, MLAs, and workers. He acknowledged that while the Lok Sabha election results were not as expected, the Jalandhar West by-election result reaffirmed the people’s trust in the state government. Singh also called on the BJP to address real issues like farmers’ welfare and youth employment instead of relying on empty promises.

Singh emphasized that betrayal of the AAP leads to political downfall, citing historical examples of politicians who left the party and faced electoral defeat. He advised party members to resolve internal differences and remain united within the AAP family.

Dr. Pathak also criticized the BJP for using money and power to lure politicians away from the AAP, urging those who are tempted to stay true to their convictions. He argued that the BJP’s tactics would not succeed in weakening the AAP, particularly noting the baseless charges against Arvind Kejriwal.

The Rajya Sabha MP urged the BJP to adopt a more constructive approach and abandon tactics of hatred and manipulation. He warned that history has shown such strategies do not sustain long-term political success.

Pathak concluded by celebrating the INDIA alliance’s overall success in the by-elections across 13 assembly seats, including Jalandhar. He noted that the BJP’s defeat in these elections demonstrated that the public rejects bullying and dictatorial tactics. “This by-election is a tight slap on the face of the BJP by the public,” he stated.
