Delhi/NCR, 20 December 2023– While addressing the closing ceremony of the 33rd Global Conclave of the International Institute of Security and Safety Management (IISSM) through video conferencing, Union Minister of Shipping, Waterways and AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal said that in the next six years, India will be the leader towards a green future and carbon emissions will also reduce. He said the ports have targeted to reduce carbon emissions of cargo handling by 30 per cent by 2030 and PSU company Koshin Shipyard Ltd is doing quality research and manufacturing for green shipping and has achieved global lead in green vehicle manufacturing.
He said that the maritime industry has an important role in reducing climate change. On this occasion, R K Sinha,Executive President of the International Institute of Security and Safety Management (IISSM) and former MP, gave a certificate and gift to the NDRF soldiers who fought for their lives for 17 days in the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi to save the lives of 41 laborers was honoured along with total of 16 soldiers including 15 battalion commandant of NDRF Sudesh Kumar, CMO Shailesh Kumar Chaudhary and second in command Ravi Shankar Badhani. Working President and former MP R K Sinha said that I am sure you would have got a lot of information in the 2-day conclave of IISSM.
He said that all of you stay connected to IISSM and keep increasing your knowledge by sharing idea’s. Chief Guest Uday Singh, Chairman and former DGP of Assam Police GM Srivastava, Chairman Gopal P Chaudhary, Vice Chairman Major MS Grewal and GB Singh and Chief Advisor Professor Santosh Kumar, Former Director General of NSG Rajan K Medhekar, Pratap Heblikar former Special Secretary, Government of India etc were also present.
