Faridabad – In the wake of continuous heavy rainfall that lashed Faridabad throughout the day, Municipal Commissioner Dhirendra Khadgata carried out a night inspection of the NIT Assembly area on Monday. The inspection was aimed at reviewing the civic preparedness and ensuring that essential services such as street lighting and drainage systems were functioning smoothly despite the downpour.
During the visit, the Commissioner closely monitored areas that are usually prone to waterlogging and directed officials to remain alert to prevent any inconvenience to residents. To the relief of the public, no major waterlogging was observed on the main roads of the NIT region even after hours of relentless rainfall. This was seen as a positive outcome of the pre-monsoon preparations undertaken by the Municipal Corporation.
However, the inspection did reveal some technical issues with streetlights at a few points. The lights were found to be non-functional due to power supply disruptions caused by the heavy rain. Officials assured that these would be restored immediately once electricity supply normalizes.
The Commissioner also highlighted the success of the Corporation’s special drain-cleaning campaign conducted ahead of the monsoon season. This large-scale exercise, focused on clearing major drains and water channels, has significantly reduced the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. According to civic officials, the initiative has proven to be “almost completely successful” in maintaining smooth drainage across the city.
Residents expressed satisfaction that, unlike in previous years, the NIT area did not witness severe waterlogging on its main roads after the downpour. The Commissioner emphasized that regular monitoring and prompt corrective action would continue throughout the monsoon to ensure public convenience.
