Berea- An 18-year-old suspect, Brailen Weaver, has been arrested for allegedly murdering two bank employees in Kentucky, in a case that has shocked authorities due to the brutality of the crime and disturbing social media activity linked to it.
According to officials, Weaver entered a U.S. Bank branch in Berea on April 30 wearing a mask and allegedly opened fire, killing two employees identified as Brian Switzer (42) and Breanna Edwards (35). After the shooting, he reportedly checked multiple drawers before fleeing the scene.
Authorities said Weaver later shared a post on social media the same evening, featuring a meme of a masked individual holding cash with the caption “I pledge allegiance to da bag,” which investigators believe may be linked to the crime.
Police tracked the suspect to a silver BMW spotted on Interstate 75, leading to a high-speed chase during which Weaver reportedly drove at speeds of up to 130 mph. The pursuit ended after he crashed the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being arrested early on May 1.
Weaver now faces multiple federal charges, including armed bank robbery, use of a firearm during a violent crime, and causing death with a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
