New Delhi, October 14 — ACP Manoj Kumar from the IFSO unit delivered an insightful lecture on “Child Sexual Offences on Social Media Platforms: Trends, Legal Recourse, and Psychosocial Support for Survivors” at the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
The session aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the evolving nature of child sexual offences, particularly those occurring through social media platforms. ACP Manoj Kumar discussed the latest digital trends, investigative approaches, and legal measures available to protect and support survivors of child sexual abuse (CSA).
The programme further focused on the developmental and mental health impact of CSA, effective communication and counselling techniques, and the critical role of social workers, counsellors, and support persons in ensuring psychosocial care and legal support during trial proceedings.
Participants included social workers and counsellors from District Child Protection Units (DCPUs), staff from Child Care Institutions, and other professionals handling cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act across the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
The event served as an important platform for capacity building and sensitization, reinforcing the need for coordinated efforts between law enforcement, social workers, and mental health professionals in ensuring justice and holistic rehabilitation for child survivors.
