Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi & Mamata, Says Both Favor Wealthy Over Poor in Bengal Rally

Congress Leader Intensifies Attack Ahead of Polls, Questions ‘Patriotism’ Narrative

At a high-energy election gathering in West Bengal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp political attack, placing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the same side of the debate. He alleged that both leaders are prioritizing the interests of the wealthy while neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens.

Speaking in Serampore, located in the Hooghly district, Gandhi accused the central and state governments of being driven by power rather than public welfare. He claimed that policies under both administrations have disproportionately benefited big businesses, leaving the poor struggling for basic support.

The Congress MP also took aim at Prime Minister Modi’s image as a nationalist, arguing that the government’s decisions contradict that claim. Without citing specific policies, Gandhi suggested that key national assets and institutions are being handed over in ways that undermine public interest.

The remarks come at a crucial time as political campaigning heats up in West Bengal, with opposition parties attempting to consolidate support by targeting both the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP-led central government.

Gandhi’s speech reflects a broader strategy by the Congress to position itself as a challenger to both regional and national powerhouses, framing the political contest as a fight between economic equity and alleged favoritism toward the elite.
