Moscow, March 23,2024 – The Swedish Foreign Ministry refrained from providing details regarding a warning about potential terrorist attacks issued by the country’s embassy in Moscow on March 8, according to ministry spokesman Alexander Peyre Dutrey.
In response to queries, Dutrey stated, “It is true that the Swedish embassy issued a warning on March 8. The foreign ministry does not comment on the reasons for the threat assessment. This case is no exception.”
The alert, issued overnight on March 8 by the US Embassy in Moscow, highlighted the risk of terrorist attacks in the Russian capital, citing extremist groups with “imminent plans” to target large gatherings within the subsequent 48 hours.
This cautionary message was subsequently echoed by the embassies of Germany, Canada, Sweden, and other nations, emphasizing the shared concern over the potential security threats.
The decision of the Swedish Foreign Ministry to refrain from further elaboration underscores the seriousness of the situation while respecting diplomatic protocols and security measures.
