Ranveer Allahbadia Gets Candid on ‘Latent’ Row: “Mentally Drained, Financially Hit”

New Delhi : Popular YouTuber and podcast host Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has spoken out for the first time about the turmoil he’s faced following the India’s Got Latent controversy — a scandal that erupted earlier this year after a controversial video clip from the now-deleted YouTube series went viral.

The incident involved a segment where Allahbadia posed a sexually explicit question involving parents, which sparked public outrage for its perceived indecency. The clip, criticized for being offensive and inappropriate, triggered multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against Allahbadia and fellow content creators Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija, and Jaspreet Singh. The FIRs were filed in Maharashtra and Assam, and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) also took cognizance of the matter, flagging it as potentially harmful to minors.

Speaking about the controversy, the 31-year-old creator said the fallout deeply affected him emotionally, financially, and professionally. “I’ve lost money, my reputation, and honestly, my mental health,” he admitted in a candid video message. “But more than anything, I let down my parents and my team. That hurts the most.”

The backlash was swift and harsh. Brands reportedly pulled out of collaborations, and several ongoing projects were either paused or cancelled. Allahbadia also revealed that the overwhelming negativity led to periods of anxiety and emotional isolation. “I was in a place where I questioned everything I had built over the last 8 years,” he shared.

Following the backlash, the India’s Got Latent YouTube show was taken down entirely, and Allahbadia issued a public apology, acknowledging the lapse in judgment. He stressed that the show, intended as an experimental comedy format, crossed boundaries it should not have.

Meanwhile, legal proceedings are still underway, and all the named individuals continue to face scrutiny. While no formal charges have been framed yet, police investigations are ongoing.

In spite of the ordeal, Allahbadia says he remains committed to rebuilding trust with his audience. “This has been a humbling experience. I’m focusing on learning from it and growing, not just as a creator but as a person,” he said.
