NFDC to organise two-day international marketplace on August 6–7 to boost creative economy, innovation and cross-border collaborations among BRICS nations

Mumbai, August 4, 2026; The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will host the BRICS WAVES Bazaar on August 6 and 7 in Mumbai, bringing together more than 500 delegates from BRICS member and partner countries to strengthen cooperation in the global creative economy.

Envisioned as a premier international marketplace, the event will bring together representatives from governments, industry bodies, filmmakers, producers, broadcasters, OTT platforms, investors, technology companies, startups, cultural institutions and creative enterprises. The initiative aims to promote dialogue, business engagement, knowledge exchange and cross-border partnerships across the audiovisual and creative industries.

The event aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for India’s BRICS Presidency, which focuses on “Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.” It seeks to deepen collaboration among participating nations while encouraging innovation, investment and cultural exchange.

Over the two-day programme, delegates will participate in high-level conferences, keynote sessions, panel discussions, business networking events and curated Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings. Key discussions will revolve around international co-productions, content financing, digital transformation, intellectual property rights, women-led entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, public policy and South-South cooperation.

A major highlight of the event will be the Creators’ Hub, an exhibition platform showcasing creative enterprises, technology providers, startups, production studios, service companies and industry organisations. The exhibition will offer participants opportunities to explore innovative solutions, discover new business prospects and establish international partnerships.

The Bazaar will also feature structured B2B meetings connecting producers, broadcasters, streaming platforms, distributors, investors, government agencies and creative businesses. These sessions are expected to facilitate collaborations in co-production, content acquisition, technology partnerships, market expansion and investment opportunities.

The BRICS WAVES Bazaar reflects India’s commitment to positioning the creative economy as a major driver of innovation, entrepreneurship, employment and economic growth. By bringing policymakers and industry leaders together on a common platform, the event aims to foster long-term partnerships and unlock new avenues for trade, investment and cultural cooperation among BRICS member and partner countries.

The gathering is expected to witness participation from government agencies, film commissions, production houses, streaming platforms, technology firms, startups, investors and international creative industry leaders, making it one of the largest creative economy events organised under the BRICS framework.
