West Asia Airspace Crisis: Indian Airlines Plan 50 Flights Today, Government Monitoring Situation

New Delhi, March 9: The Ministry of Civil Aviation said it is closely watching the rapidly changing airspace situation in West Asia as tensions in the region continue to affect flight operations between India and several Middle Eastern destinations.

In an official update on Monday, the ministry said Indian airlines are making operational adjustments to ensure passenger safety and maintain smooth flight services despite the uncertain conditions.

According to the latest data, a total of 51 inbound flights operated by Indian carriers arrived in India from West Asian countries on March 7, carrying 8,175 passengers.

For March 8, Indian airlines including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Akasa Air scheduled 49 inbound flights from major regional airports.

These services were planned from key hubs such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat and Jeddah, depending on operational feasibility and the prevailing security situation.

For March 9, Indian airlines are currently planning to operate 50 flights from the region, though final schedules may be adjusted depending on ground conditions and airspace restrictions.

The ministry said airlines are also continuously reviewing conditions at other airports in the region to determine whether additional flights can be introduced to facilitate passenger travel.

Officials added that the government is in constant coordination with airlines and other aviation stakeholders to manage the situation effectively. Authorities are also keeping a close watch on airfare trends to prevent sudden or unreasonable increases in ticket prices during the ongoing crisis.

Passengers travelling to or from West Asia have been advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight timings and schedules as the situation continues to evolve
