National Road Safety Month : Emphasis Placed on Strict enforcement of rules and awareness

GAUTAM BUDDHA NAGAR : A district-level meeting was organized at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium under the National Road Safety Month-2026, with the objective of preventing road accidents and ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules. The meeting was chaired by Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Praveen Ranjan Singh and Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey provided key guidance. District-level officers, village heads, and panchayat secretaries were given detailed information about road safety rules, and emphasis was placed on their strict compliance. The discussion particularly focused on raising awareness about road safety among people in rural areas through village council meetings and ASHA workers.

ARTO Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey shared detailed information about hit-and-run cases, the cashless treatment scheme (under which road accident victims receive free treatment up to Rs. 1.5 lakh for one week), and the Good Samaritan scheme (to provide an incentive and reward of Rs. 25,000 to passersby who help in accident cases). More than 70 officers and participants were present at the event.

Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi said, “Road safety is life safety. All village heads and panchayat secretaries should motivate villagers to follow traffic rules. Make the use of helmets and seat belts mandatory and avoid overspeeding. Spread awareness through village council meetings so that our district becomes accident-free.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Praveen Ranjan Singh said, “Violation of traffic rules is a threat not only to oneself but also to the lives of others. All citizens should wear helmets, use seat belts, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, and adhere to the prescribed speed limits. The police administration is fully committed, but complete success is not possible without public cooperation. Road safety is our shared responsibility.”

ARTO Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey said, “Be vigilant to prevent incidents like hit-and-run accidents.” Provide immediate assistance in case of an accident, as the cashless treatment scheme will ensure prompt medical attention for the victim, and those who help under the Good Samaritan scheme will be honored. All drivers should follow the rules so that we can achieve the goal of National Road Safety Month: “Road Safety – Life Safety.”
