NPTI Launches Training Programme on “Leadership and Strategic Management” for DISCOM Employees

A book on “Leadership and Strategic Management” for DISCOM employees was released

Faridabad: The National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Sector-33, Faridabad, under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, launched a three-day training and capacity-building programme on “Leadership and Strategic Management” for DISCOM employees under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

The programme witnessed the participation of more than 30 officers and employees from various states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jodhpur, and Tripura. The objective of the programme is to enhance leadership capabilities, strategic thinking, and managerial skills among power distribution professionals, thereby enabling the effective implementation and achievement of RDSS objectives.

The inaugural session was graced by the Chief Guest, Alok Kumar, Retired IAS and Director General (AIDA), along with Hemant Jain, Director General, NPTI; Sanjesh Kumar, Deputy General Manager, Power Finance Corporation (PFC); Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director (Training); Dr. S. Selvam, Principal Director (MBA/IT); Dr. Vatsala Sharma, Director (Training/Procurement); Dr. Mahendra Singh, Deputy Director; and Rahul Pandey, Deputy Director, along with senior officers and faculty members of NPTI.

On this occasion, the dignitaries also released a book titled “Leadership and Strategic Management”, specially designed for DISCOM employees under the RDSS.
Addressing the participants,  Hemant Jain, Director General, NPTI, emphasized the critical role of capacity building in nation-building and highlighted the need for strong leadership and strategic management in view of the evolving challenges and reforms in the power distribution sector.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director (Training), NPTI. She emphasized the need for strong leadership and continuous capacity building for the successful implementation of the RDSS. This was followed by Dr. S. Selvam, Principal Director (MBA/IT), NPTI, in his address, highlighted the need to adopt strategic management and data-driven decision-making processes to further improve the efficiency and governance of DISCOMs.
A special address was delivered by Sanjesh Kumar, DGM, Power Finance Corporation (PFC). He shared his views on the role of effective leadership in driving institutional strengthening and reforms under RDSS.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Alok Kumar, retired IAS officer and Director General, AIDA. He discussed in detail the importance of leadership, change management, and a stakeholder-centric approach in the public sector.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr. Vatsala Sharma, Director (Training/Procurement), NPTI. She expressed her gratitude to all the distinguished guests, participants, and the organizing team, and reiterated NPTI’s commitment to quality-based training.
This training program provides a common platform for DISCOM officers and employees to gain knowledge on important topics related to leadership and strategic management.
