Leh, Sept 18, 2025 – Demonstrating its commitment to community development, the State Bank of India (SBI) has gifted a school bus to the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR) in Leh as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The keys to the new vehicle were presented to NISR Director Dr. Padma Gurmet by Krishan Sharma, Chief General Manager of SBI’s Chandigarh Circle, in a ceremony held on the institute campus. The event was attended by Jayant Mani, Deputy General Manager (Business & Operations, J&K Zone), Anil Tondon, Chief Manager of the SBI Leh branch, along with other senior officials, faculty, staff, and students.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Gurmet highlighted the institute’s work in promoting Sowa-Rigpa—India’s traditional system of medicine—and thanked SBI for supporting the students’ needs.
Speaking at the function, Sharma reaffirmed the bank’s focus on socially beneficial initiatives, noting that SBI seeks to strengthen partnerships with institutions contributing to regional welfare.
This CSR gesture underscores SBI’s ongoing efforts to boost socio-economic progress in Ladakh and support educational infrastructure across the country.
