Jammu, September 1, 2025 – Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Monday visited flood and landslide-affected areas of Jammu division to assess damages caused by recent heavy rains.
During his visit, Shah met flood-hit families in Chak Mangu village and inspected the damaged Tawi Bridge at Bikram Chowk, Shiv Mandir, and nearby homes. Expressing grief over the loss of lives, he assured that the Modi government stands firmly with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, providing immediate relief, financial aid, and technical support.

The Home Minister chaired a high-level review meeting attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior officials. He stressed the need for a critical review of Early Warning Systems, including GLOF alerts, and directed the Meteorological Department and NDMA to use data analytics and AI to study cloudbursts and improve forecasting accuracy.
Shah said advanced survey teams from the Ministry of Home Affairs will assess damage, while additional food and relief supplies are being arranged. He noted that over 5,000 people were safely evacuated, more than 80% of power supply has been restored, and relief camps are functioning with proper health and food facilities.

Highlighting the Centre’s commitment, Shah announced that ₹209 crore has already been released to J&K under the State Disaster Response Fund. He praised the coordinated efforts of NDRF, Army, Air Force, UTDRF, CAPFs, and J&K Police in minimizing casualties and assured continued assistance for rehabilitation and reconstruction.
