Sonipat: BJP State President Pandit Mohan Lal Badoli on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a Bird Tower at the BJP office in Sonipat. The 60-foot-high tower is designed to provide a safe and comfortable shelter for thousands of birds.
Speaking on the occasion, Pandit Mohan Lal Badoli said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had first initiated the concept of bird shelters in Gujarat. Inspired by this, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini laid the foundation stone for a bird tower at Mata Mansa Devi Gaushala in Panchkula in 2024, and similar towers have also been set up in Gurugram.
Explaining the project, District Media In-charge Advocate Dinesh Atri said the Sonipat Bird Tower will have around 720 birdhouses capable of accommodating approximately 3,500 birds including pigeons, sparrows, parrots, and mynas. Adequate arrangements for grain and water will also be made.

He added that the unique design will prevent predatory birds from accessing the tower. It will be divided into six main units, each painted in different colors to attract birds, and constructed using prefabricated fiber. The structure will be weather-resistant, ensuring birds can comfortably survive all seasons.
Highlighting the significance, Dinesh Atri said bird habitats across India are shrinking, making survival and reproduction increasingly difficult. This initiative has been taken under the Animal Cruelty Prevention Committee of the Haryana Animal Husbandry Department, led by Commissioner Vijay Dahiya and nodal officer Joint Director Dr. Punita.
The construction of the tower will cost around Rs.6 lakh, fully funded through the personal contribution of BJP State President Mohan Lal Badoli.
Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including MLA Nikhil Madan, Mayor Rajeev Jain, District General Secretaries Tarun Devdas and Neeraj Kumar, Media In-charge Advocates Dinesh Atri and Rahul Khatri, along with Sonia Mor, Hardeep Kumar, Minister Kishore Vashisth, Tribhuvan Kaushik, Rajesh Mukimpur, Sunita Sawbin, Kuldeep Vats, Dr. Vivek Mishra, Isha Mishra, Surender Madan, Rajkumar Sharma, Aarti Sharma, Naresh Kumar, and other notable personalities.
