The Impressive TimesFaridabad/Noida, July 8, 2025 — In a significant step towards sustainable infrastructure and environmental conservation, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a large-scale plantation drive along the upcoming Faridabad–Noida International Airport corridor.
The initiative aims to enhance the green cover along the expressway while also contributing to improved air quality and ecological balance in the NCR region. Native tree species, known for their adaptability and pollution-absorbing properties, are being planted along the route connecting Faridabad to the Jewar International Airport, which is currently under rapid development.
Officials from NHAI stated that the move aligns with the government’s Green Highways Policy, which promotes eco-friendly highway development. This plantation drive is also expected to contribute to the carbon neutrality goals of the infrastructure sector, creating a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing transit corridor.
The plantation is being carried out using geo-tagging technology, enabling real-time monitoring of plant health and survival rates. Local community participation and coordination with forest departments have further strengthened the impact of the campaign.
This effort not only supports India’s broader climate action goals but also sets an example of integrating green infrastructure into major development projects like the Noida International Airport, set to be one of the country’s largest aviation hubs.
