CUH Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with Padma Shri Yogeshwar Dutt

NEW DELHI, 21 JUNE: The Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh, celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm, following the protocol set by the Ministry of AYUSH.

The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, researchers, staff, their
families, and residents from nearby villages.The event was held under the leadership of CUH Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, with the gracious presence of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma and Registrar Prof. Suneel Kumar. Olympian Medal winner Padma Shri awardee Yogeshwar Dutt graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Yogeshwar Dutt said that yoga is a symbol of India’s ancient heritage and has gained global
recognition under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted how
yoga strengthens both body and mind and encouraged students to identify their talents and
move forward with determination to serve the nation and achieve personal success in diverse
fields, including medicine, engineering, and sports.

Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor welcomed the Chief Guest and reiterated the
mantra of ‘Resolution to Accomplishment’, urging students to work hard towards their goals
and draw inspiration from Yogeshwar Dutt’s exemplary achievements. He underlined that
International Yoga Day reflects India’s cultural significance of yoga on a global stage and
promotes a healthy body and mind.

The programme commenced with the University Kulgeet, followed by the broadcast of the
Prime Minister’s address. Students from the Department of Yoga led participants through a
yoga session as per the AYUSH protocol.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Yoga, National Service Scheme
(NSS), Yoga Trekking and Adventure Club, and the National Cadet Corps (NCC). The
programme outline was presented by Prof. Dinesh Gupta, Dean of the School of
Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences. Dr. Ajaypal introduced the Chief Guest, and Dr.
Kheraj introduced the Vice-Chancellor. Certificates were distributed to participants by the
dignitaries at the end of the event. The stage was conducted by Dr. Neelam, while the vote of
thanks was delivered by Dr. Naveen from the Department of Yoga.
