New Delhi, May 28: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta today visited the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency to inspect and inaugurate various development projects. During her visit, she inaugurated newly constructed footpaths at SU and UU Parks in Pitampura, as well as new roads and civic infrastructure in NP, PD, and QD Blocks.
Addressing local residents, the Chief Minister shared, “When I was first elected as a Municipal Councillor in 2007, this park was in a completely neglected and barren state. Over time, we carried out multiple development works—constructed footpaths, toilets, installed swings, and set up open gyms. Now that you have placed your trust in me as the Chief Minister of Delhi, it is my responsibility to transform this park into a lush and beautiful ‘Amrit Udyan’.”
She directed officials to complete the park’s redevelopment work at the earliest and to beautify it with flowers, so that it becomes a model public space. The Chief Minister also shared key achievements from her first 100 days in office, highlighting the development works undertaken in Shalimar Bagh and Pitampura.
She stated that several infrastructure projects in these areas have gained momentum. Footpaths in SU and UU Blocks have been renovated, and a new road in NU Block has been constructed at a cost of ₹21 lakh. Similarly, new roads in PD and QD Blocks have been developed at a cost of ₹33 lakh, while repair work in MDKD Block was carried out for ₹7 lakh.
Additionally, a new Ring Road between Madhuban Chowk and Mukarba Chowk has been constructed at a cost of ₹13 crore. Directional signs and arrows have been installed on PWD roads in Pitampura at a cost of ₹15 lakh to ease traffic movement. Work to raise and repair the boundary walls of Prem Bari Bridge and GNJU has been completed at a cost of ₹10 lakh. To prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season, water pumps along with tractor have been arranged at a cost of ₹8 lakh.
Dedicating these projects to the people, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that delivering development to every corner of Delhi is her topmost priority. She further stated, “It is our resolve to make every neighbourhood and colony of Delhi clean, beautiful, and safe. This wave of development will not stop. Our four-engine government is fully committed to transforming the capital into a ‘Viksit Delhi’.”
