Delhi CM Felicitated by SGGSCC

NEW DELHI, 28 MAY : Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce University of Delhi organized the felicitation ceremony for Smt Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister of Delhi.

Guest of Honour S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister of Industries, Food & Supplies & Env., Forest & Wild Life welcomed honourable chief minister of Delhi. The event started with recital of Shabad by students of the Divinity Society (Vismaad) of the college.

In his welcome address, the principal of the college Dr. Jatinder Bir Singh, outlined how the college is committed to contributing to the society through various community outreach programmes. He expressed hope that with the support from the newly elected CM, the college will be able to realize its vision of empowering women through leadership programmes.

Chairman of the college, S. MPS Chadha congratulated the chief minister for her remarkable journey in public service.

Harmeet Singh Kalka, President, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and S. Jagdip Singh Kahlon, Gen. Sec., DSGMC and other elected members of the parent body were also present on the occasion.

Manjinder Singh Sirsa, honorable Delhi cabinet minister, in his address, thanked the honorable Chief Minister for her allegance towards society and the Sikh community. He hailed her offer of government jobs to the victims of 1984 Sikh riots in Delhi. The CM has proved her commitment and spirit for the promotion of punjabiyat.

The honorable Chief Minister Rekha Gupta traced her association with the college as a student leader, as a parent, as a community leader and today as CM. She congratulated the principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) J. B. Singh and the entire management for launching the Centre of Leadership with special focus on creating future women leaders. She expressed her obligation to the Sikh community, ‘I will continue to work for the welfare of the Sikh community.’ She thanked the DSGMC and management for the continued support she has received from them.

The event was attended by MLAs, councillors, members of DSGMC and residents of Pitampura, in addition to the college faculty, administration staff and alumni association.
