In the last 24 hours, lightning strikes have killed seven people in six districts of Bihar, officials said on Monday. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), two people died in Aurangabad, while one person died in each of the districts of Bhagalpur, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, and Darbhanga. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his sorrow over the deaths and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased. He also urged people to stay alert and follow the Disaster Management Department’s advisories.
In a similar incident, at least eight people were killed by lightning in six districts of Bihar on June 26. These deaths were reported within 24 hours in Bhagalpur, Munger, Jamui, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Araria districts. The Chief Minister’s Office also announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh for the families of each victim.
