Jaipur : In the wake of the tragic hit-and-run incident in Jaipur’s Nahargarh area, the Jaipur City District Congress Committee has taken swift disciplinary action by expelling Usman Khan from its district executive committee. Khan, the alleged driver of the SUV involved in the horrifying incident, was reportedly intoxicated at the time and has been identified as a party worker. His expulsion comes amid mounting public outrage and demands for accountability.
The incident occurred when a speeding SUV, allegedly driven by Khan, ploughed through a crowded street late at night, mowing down pedestrians and ramming into parked vehicles outside the Nahargarh police station. According to police, the vehicle travelled recklessly from the busy MI Road area to the narrow lanes under the jurisdiction of the Nahargarh police station, leaving a trail of devastation in its path.
Three people lost their lives on the spot, while at least eight others were seriously injured in the crash. The deceased have yet to be officially identified. The injured include Virendra Singh (48), Mamta Kanwar (50), Monesh Soni (28), Mohammad Jalaluddin (44), Deepika Saini (17), Vijay Narayan (65), Jebunnisha (50), Anshika (24), and Awadhesh Pareek (37). All are currently receiving treatment at nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition.
Eyewitness accounts paint a chilling picture of the aftermath. Screams filled the air as bystanders rushed to rescue the injured. Emergency services were called in to manage the chaos and provide medical assistance. However, the scene quickly escalated into a protest as angry residents gathered in large numbers, expressing their fury over the alleged political connection of the accused and demanding swift and strict action.
Tensions soared in the Nahargarh area as protestors blocked roads, burned tyres, and chanted slogans demanding justice for the victims and capital punishment for the accused. The heavy police presence did little to calm the unrest as local authorities struggled to contain the situation. The protestors questioned how someone affiliated with a political party could be involved in such reckless behavior and accused local leaders of shielding party members.
