A Delhi court has issued a summon to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in connection with a defamation case filed by Suresh Karamshi Nakhua, a spokesperson for the Mumbai unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The case centers around allegations that Rathee referred to Nakhua as a “violent and abusive” troll in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel on July 7.

The summon was issued by District Judge Gunjan Gupta of the Saket Court on July 19. In addition to the summon, the court has also issued notice to Rathee on Nakhua’s plea for interim relief, with the matter scheduled for hearing on August 6.

Rathee, known for his critical commentary on political and social issues, now faces legal proceedings that could have significant implications for online content creators and their freedom of expression.
