Ranchi, July 20 2024 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday leveled serious allegations against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accusing him of involvement in ‘land jihad’ and ‘love jihad,’ which Shah claims are contributing to demographic changes in the state. Addressing party workers at Prabhat Tara Ground in Ranchi, Shah asserted that illegal immigrants marrying tribal women and buying land in Jharkhand could significantly reduce the tribal population in the future.
Shah criticized Soren, a chief minister from the tribal community, for allegedly neglecting his people. “He (Hemant Soren) is propagating land jihad and love jihad in the state dominated by tribals, causing demographic changes,” Shah stated.
The home minister alleged that thousands of illegal immigrants are marrying tribal women, obtaining certificates, and purchasing land in Jharkhand, which he believes will diminish the tribal population over time. “If anywhere in the country the population of tribals is reducing, it is only in Jharkhand,” Shah claimed. He further promised that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is voted into power, they will release a ‘white paper’ to secure the land, population, and reservation of tribals. Shah also emphasized that illegal immigration is directly impacting employment opportunities for the youth in the state.
Shah accused Soren of focusing solely on vote bank politics while ignoring the state’s problems, suggesting that Soren’s notion of progress for tribals equates to the advancement of his own family. “It is our government that is concerned about the welfare of tribals,” Shah asserted, citing the BJP’s appointment of Babu Lal as the first tribal chief minister of Jharkhand and a tribal woman as the President of India. He also highlighted the BJP government’s initiatives, such as making announcements in the Santhali language at railway stations.
Additionally, Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to prioritize the welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBC), noting the establishment of a commission for OBCs, the provision of 27 percent reservation for them in all central examinations, and measures to secure their rights. “Even the Prime Minister’s council of ministers has the highest number of ministers from the backward community,” Shah remarked, urging the people of Jharkhand to “uproot the corrupt Soren government and support Narendra Modi.”
