Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across several areas in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra

The Mumbai Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across some areas in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra over the next five days. Due to a landslide outside a tunnel between Vinhere (Raigad) and Divan Khawati (Ratnagiri) stations, rail traffic has been suspended, and efforts to clear the debris are ongoing.

The IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad district in Maharashtra and an Orange alert for Palghar, Ratnagiri, Thane, Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Hingoli, Amravati, and Wardha districts. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed teams at various locations including Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vasai, Thane, Mahad, Khed, Chiplun, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Andheri (3 teams), and Nagpur (1 team). Local administrations are on high alert and prepared to mitigate potential hazards.
