Nagpur April 15 2026: The President of India Droupadi Murmu addressed the convocation ceremony of AIIMS Nagpur in Maharashtra on Wednesday and emphasized that compassion and integrity must remain central to the medical profession even as technology rapidly transforms healthcare.

Speaking to graduating students, she said that doctors play a vital role not only in treating illness but also in giving hope and emotional strength to patients and their families. She highlighted that trust and respect between doctors and patients are essential for effective healthcare.

The President noted that the expansion of AIIMS institutions across the country has strengthened both medical education and healthcare access. She appreciated AIIMS Nagpur for emerging as a strong centre for medical training research and quality healthcare services.

Referring to rapid technological changes in medicine, she said that tools like artificial intelligence and digital health systems should be embraced to improve access, especially in rural areas. However, she stressed that no technology can replace empathy, integrity and a patient focused approach.
