Varanasi, April 11 (UNI):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on Friday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 44 development projects worth ₹3,900 crore for Kashi and the Purvanchal region. Addressing a massive gathering in Mehandiganj, the Prime Minister emphasized that today’s India is advancing with a perfect blend of development and heritage.

Speaking in Bhojpuri to connect with the local audience, he said, “Kashi is mine, and I belong to Kashi.” He remarked that the nation’s image has transformed globally in the last ten years, and that Kashi is now leading Purvanchal’s development under Lord Mahadev’s divine guidance.

‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ vs Family-First Politics

PM Modi reiterated his government’s commitment to inclusive growth, contrasting it with dynastic politics. “Some are focused only on ‘family’s support, family’s development’, but our motto is Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” he asserted.

Infrastructure & Connectivity Boom

The PM highlighted key infrastructure initiatives including:

  • Expansion of Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport

  • Flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih

  • A new bridge connecting Banaras and Sarnath

  • City Ropeway Project, making Varanasi one of the few cities globally to have one

He stated that over ₹45,000 crore has been invested in the region over the past decade, transforming connectivity and reducing travel time significantly.

Empowering Farmers and Artisans

A major highlight was the transfer of ₹106 crore as bonus payments to livestock farmers linked with Banas Dairy, empowering women and rural families. Modi said, “Many sisters in Purvanchal have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ thanks to dairy income.”

He also distributed GI registration certificates for over 30 regional products like tabla, shehnai, lal peda, and thandai. “These GI tags are the passport of our soil’s identity,” he noted, declaring UP as number one in India for GI tagging.

Healthcare Boost for Senior Citizens

Modi handed out Ayushman Vay Vandana health cards to senior citizens above 70, providing them with free medical care. “Now families won’t have to sell land or take loans for treatment — the government will take care of it,” he added.

Youth, Sports & Global Aspirations

Encouraging local youth to prepare for the 2036 Olympics, the PM said new stadiums and sports complexes are being developed. He also paid tribute to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, linking the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment and education to Phule’s legacy.

Cultural Integration and National Unity

Citing events like Kashi-Tamil Sangamam and the upcoming ‘Ekta Mall’, which will showcase products from all Indian districts, Modi said, “UP is no longer just a land of possibilities — it’s a land of achievements.”

He concluded with a heartfelt message: “Whoever preserves Kashi, preserves the soul of India. Together, we will make Kashi strong and dreamlike.”
