PM Modi Lands in Washington for High-Stakes Talks with President Trump & Top US Officials

Washington Feb 13, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Washington on a two-day official working visit, during which he will engage in discussions with US President Donald Trump, key members of the US Cabinet, and prominent industry leaders.

In a post on X, PM Modi expressed enthusiasm about his upcoming talks with President Trump and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

“Landed in Washington DC a short while ago. Eager to meet @POTUS Donald Trump and build upon the India-USA Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. Our nations will continue to work together for the well-being of our people and a brighter future for our planet,” PM Modi wrote.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson also shared a message on X, highlighting the importance of the visit.

“A new chapter unfolds in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership. PM @narendramodi arrives on an official working visit to Washington D.C., USA. During his stay, he will meet @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, senior US Cabinet members, and industry leaders,” the post read.

PM Modi is staying at Blair House, the official guest residence for visiting dignitaries. Notably, he is the fourth foreign leader to meet President Trump since his inauguration last month, following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and Jordan’s King Abdullah.

Upon his arrival on Wednesday evening, PM Modi received an enthusiastic welcome from members of the Indian diaspora, who gathered near Blair House to greet him. The community members, waving Indian and American flags, chanted slogans in support of India-US ties and expressed excitement over the Prime Minister’s visit.

The visit is expected to focus on key bilateral issues, including trade, defense cooperation, and technological collaborations. Strengthening economic ties and expanding cooperation in areas such as clean energy, digital technology, and global security are also on the agenda.

PM Modi’s discussions with President Trump are anticipated to reinforce the shared vision of both nations in ensuring stability and growth in the Indo-Pacific region. His meetings with US Cabinet members and business leaders will further boost India-US economic engagement and investments.

As part of his itinerary, PM Modi is also likely to interact with representatives from major American companies and strategic think tanks, fostering deeper collaboration between the two democracies.

His visit underlines India’s commitment to enhancing its global partnerships and reinforcing its role as a key player in international affairs.
