Ranchi (Jharkhand), 30 Jan 2024– Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren commemorated the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by paying homage at Gandhi Bhavan in Ranchi. He emphasized the enduring inspiration found in Gandhi’s teachings, affirming a continued commitment to struggle, victory, and the principles championed by the Father of the Nation.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also honored Mahatma Gandhi by offering floral tributes on the solemn occasion. Gandhi, who was assassinated on January 30, 1948, continues to be remembered for his profound impact on India’s independence movement and his enduring legacy of non-violence and social reform.
In a separate development, Chief Minister Hemant Soren convened a meeting with ministers from his ruling coalition amidst allegations by the BJP regarding an alleged land scam case. The BJP had accused Soren of evading an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and labeled him a “bhagoda” (one who flees from responsibility).
Responding to these allegations, Soren was seen leaving his residence in Ranchi ahead of the meeting, which was attended by alliance party leaders. The ED had recently visited Soren’s residence in Delhi for questioning, leading to the seizure of assets but failing to locate the JMM leader.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey further fueled the controversy by suggesting a proposal to appoint Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, as the Chief Minister. Dubey’s statement sparked speculation and heightened tensions within the political landscape of Jharkhand.
