Delhi Police Launches “Swabhimaan” – Gender Inclusive Workplace Initiative at SPUWAC

New Delhi, January 19, 2026:Delhi Police today inaugurated “Swabhimaan” – the Gender Inclusive Workplace Initiative at the SPUWAC premises, Nanakpura, reaffirming its strong commitment towards creating safe, dignified and gender-sensitive workplaces.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri Ajay Chaudhry, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Vigilance & SPUWAC), Delhi Police, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Senior police officers, representatives of partner organisations and staff of SPUWAC were present during the event.

Swabhimaan, themed “Gender Sensitive Police Stations Across Delhi,” aims to strengthen inclusivity, dignity and menstrual hygiene facilities within police workplaces, particularly police stations and women-centric units. The initiative focuses on promoting a supportive and respectful work environment for women personnel and visitors.
This initiative is a joint effort of Delhi Police and Public Police, led by Former Chief Justice of India Shri K. G. Balakrishnan, in collaboration with Vyomini Social Foundation (VSF), headed by Ms. Prachi Kaushik. The partnership brings together institutional support, legal insight and social advocacy to address gender sensitivity in a structured and sustainable manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Chaudhry, IPS, emphasized the importance of gender-inclusive infrastructure and sensitization at workplaces, stating that initiatives like Swabhimaan play a crucial role in strengthening trust, efficiency and dignity within the police system.
The programme also highlighted the need for menstrual hygiene awareness and facilities as an essential component of a gender-sensitive workplace.

Ms Prachi Kaushik, Founder, Vyomini Social Enterprise, said,
“Our goal is not just to install machines, but to normalize conversations around menstrual health at the workplace. Police stations are demanding environments, and women personnel deserve access to safe, dignified menstrual hygiene facilities. Through SWABHIMAN, we aim to create lasting awareness and make police stations truly period friendly.”
