BJP Will Return to Power in Uttarakhand in 2027, Says Amit Shah

Amit Shah Says BJP Will Form Government Again in Uttarakhand in 2027

Haridwar, March 7: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will once again form the government in Uttarakhand after the 2027 Assembly elections. Speaking at a public gathering in Haridwar to mark four years of the state government, Shah said the party is aiming for a third consecutive term in the hill state.

During his address, Shah highlighted several infrastructure and development projects undertaken in Uttarakhand over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the state government led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. He pointed to projects such as the Char Dham road project, the Delhi–Dehradun economic corridor, and major railway and airport upgrades as examples of the government’s development-focused agenda.

The Home Minister also criticised the opposition, particularly the Indian National Congress, accusing it of being associated with corruption and mismanagement. Shah claimed that the Congress had opposed the creation of Uttarakhand in the past and alleged that the party lacked the ability to deliver development for the state.

Shah praised the Dhami government for introducing measures aimed at transparency and governance reforms, including stricter laws to prevent cheating in recruitment exams and steps to ensure merit-based government jobs. He also mentioned the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (India) in Uttarakhand, calling it a landmark decision that would bring equal legal standards for all citizens in the state.

The minister also spoke about the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019, stating that persecuted minorities from neighbouring countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan have been granted citizenship in India. He credited the Modi government for completing several long-pending initiatives, including the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India and the construction of the Ram Mandir.

Concluding his speech, Shah urged the people of Uttarakhand to support the BJP again in the upcoming elections, stating that another term would help the state become one of the leading smaller states in the country in terms of development and economic growth.
