The Impressive TimesTampa (US), June 24:** Jacksonville, Florida, rapper Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was shot and killed in Tampa, his lawyer confirmed. The “Ion Need Love” rapper was killed two days after his 26th birthday.
Police were called to a hotel in uptown Tampa before sunrise on Sunday after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, they found two vehicles in the parking lot riddled with bullets.
One person, identified as Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene according to the Tampa Police Department. Three additional victims were in stable condition and taken to the hospital. Police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.
The 26-year-old rapper, who had 1 million followers on social media, shared a video advertising a pool party on Saturday evening, telling his followers to direct-message him for the address. Jones was celebrating his birthday the night of his fatal shooting, as shown in footage he posted on his Instagram story. Later that night, he posted that police had “shut us down and kicked us out” of the Airbnb.
