Prithla: Congress MP Deepender Hooda on Sunday called on party workers to join the “Delhi Chalo” campaign on October 12 against what he alleged was a nexus between the BJP and the Election Commission. Addressing a workers’ convention for the Prithla and Mohna blocks, organised by Prithla MLA Raghuvir Singh Tewatia, Hooda accused the government of weakening democratic institutions and citizens’ rights.
Hooda alleged that electoral irregularities had affected the public mandate in Haryana and questioned the fairness of elections. He claimed that democratic voices were being suppressed and the right to protest was being weakened. Calling for collective action, he said the fight was not for any one individual or organisation but for the country’s democratic values and citizens’ rights.
Questioning the role of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Hooda demanded accountability over allegations of vote theft. He also referred to the NEET paper leak controversy, alleging that the government’s refusal to accept demands for resignations had raised concerns. He claimed that young people had lost faith in the BJP government and urged workers to reach Delhi in large numbers on October 12.
The convention was attended by thousands of Congress workers and chaired by former Haryana Congress President Uday Bhan. Raghuvir Singh Tewatia welcomed Deepender Hooda on behalf of residents of all communities in the Prithla constituency and said he had consistently raised local development, employment and public issues on the streets and in the Assembly. He also called for a campaign to make Hooda Haryana CM in 2029, drawing support from attendees.
