Lucknow, August 11, 2026; Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday highlighted the national flag as a representation of India’s honour, pride and national identity while participating in a Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Addressing people before the march began, Adityanath said displaying the Tricolour at homes was a way of remembering the sacrifices made by freedom fighters during India’s struggle for independence.

The Chief Minister recalled the evolution of national symbols during the freedom movement, pointing to the Swadeshi movement and the role played by the charkha in inspiring people during the struggle against British rule.

He said the national flag assumed its present significance after Independence, with the Ashoka Chakra becoming an important element of the Tricolour and representing the nation’s progress and unity.

Adityanath urged citizens to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ initiative with a sense of responsibility and respect for the national flag. He said the campaign provides an opportunity for people, particularly younger generations, to connect with the country’s freedom struggle and its national values.

The Gorakhpur programme featured the Chief Minister carrying the Tricolour as participants joined the Tiranga Yatra. The event formed part of the wider celebrations being held across the country ahead of Independence Day.

The campaign encourages citizens to display the national flag at their homes as part of Independence Day celebrations and to remember the contribution of those who fought for the country’s freedom.
