Shamli, July 17, 2026;

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said Shamli has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past decade, describing the district as an example of rapid infrastructure growth, better governance and improved public safety. Addressing a public gathering in Shamli, he said the region has left behind its troubled past and is moving steadily on the path of development.

Recalling the situation before 2017, the Chief Minister alleged that Shamli and nearby Kairana were once associated with crime, fear and migration. He claimed that poor law and order, weak infrastructure, declining industries and inadequate public services had severely affected the lives of residents, particularly farmers, women and young people.

Highlighting the district’s improved connectivity, Yogi Adityanath said Shamli has become an important transport hub due to the convergence of three major expressway projects. He compared this network to a “Triveni Sangam,” referring to the DelhiDehradun Expressway, the Shamli-Ambala Expressway and the Shamli-Gorakhpur Expressway, saying these projects will significantly boost economic growth and regional connectivity.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the state’s sugar industry, stating that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a revival under the present government. He said several sugar mills that had shut down during previous administrations have either resumed operations or new investments have strengthened the sector. According to him, Uttar Pradesh now leads the country in sugarcane cultivation, sugar production and ethanol manufacturing, benefiting farmers across the state.

Yogi Adityanath further claimed that the current administration has ensured greater security for women and improved access to essential services, including electricity. He contrasted these developments with the conditions that existed under earlier governments.

During his address, the Chief Minister also criticised the Congress and the Samajwadi Party over their approach to religious and cultural events. He alleged that previous governments had imposed restrictions on traditional religious processions and festivals, whereas the present government has focused on supporting such events while maintaining law and order.

Referring to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, Yogi Adityanath urged devotees to conduct themselves with patience and discipline. He said the state government is making extensive arrangements to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims and appealed to participants to avoid any actions that could disrupt public order.

The Chief Minister concluded by saying that the double-engine government is working to fulfil the vision of strengthening Western Uttar Pradesh through better infrastructure, agricultural growth, employment opportunities and improved governance, while preserving the region’s cultural and religious traditions.
