Amit Shah Launches Delhi’s 70 Lakh Plantation Campaign to Expand Green Cover

New Delhi, July 7: Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched Delhi’s Mission 70 Lakh Plantation Drive, a major environmental initiative aimed at increasing the city’s green cover and promoting public participation in tree plantation activities.

Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling at the Central Ridge area of Delhi. Under the initiative, 70 lakh saplings will be planted across the national capital with the involvement of government departments, educational institutions, organisations and citizens.

 

The plantation drive has been launched under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, encouraging people to actively participate in creating a greener and healthier environment. Schools, residential communities, social organisations and various institutions will take part in plantation activities at different locations across Delhi.

The initiative is focused on improving urban greenery, reducing environmental challenges and strengthening ecological balance in the national capital. Forest and civic agencies will work together to ensure effective implementation of the campaign.

 

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other senior officials were present at the launch event.

The campaign also emphasises plantation of native tree species to promote biodiversity and ensure sustainable environmental development, supporting the vision of a cleaner and greener Delhi.
