New Delhi– Commuters on the Delhi Metro faced significant disruption on Wednesday after a signalling failure affected services on the Magenta Line.
The issue occurred between Kalkaji Mandir Metro Station and Botanical Garden Metro Station, leading to delays and overcrowding at several stations. Passengers reported being stuck inside trains and waiting on platforms for more than 30 minutes during peak hours.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed the disruption, stating that train services were affected due to a signalling issue on the route. It clarified that operations on other metro lines continued as normal.
Officials said technical teams were deployed to identify and fix the problem, with engineers working onboard and at stations to restore services. However, the delay caused inconvenience to hundreds of daily commuters.
Social media platforms were flooded with complaints, with passengers sharing updates about halted trains and extended waiting times. Some users reported stoppages at stations like Shaheen Bagh, while others questioned the delay during busy travel hours.
Authorities are working to normalise operations, and services are expected to gradually return to schedule once the fault is fully resolved.
