Ahmedabad Fire Scare: 25 Rescued After Blaze Engulfs Commercial Building

No casualties reported as fire breaks out near ATM, spreads rapidly to upper floors

Ahmedabad- A major fire incident was reported at a commercial complex in Ahmedabad on Monday, where at least 25 people were safely rescued after being trapped on the upper floors of the building, officials said.

The blaze erupted at the Shangrila-2 Arcade near Shyamal Crossroads, a four-storey structure housing a bank on the ground floor and offices along with a gym on higher levels. According to fire department officials, the fire is believed to have originated near an ATM area inside the bank and quickly spread to the parking space and upper floors.

Thick smoke soon engulfed the building, trapping several individuals, including people present at a gym on the top floor. Firefighters managed to evacuate around 25 persons from the fourth floor without any injuries.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services rushed multiple fire tenders to the spot after receiving a distress call around mid-morning. Fire personnel carried out rescue operations and brought the situation under control after battling the flames for several hours.

Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in the incident, though a few two-wheelers parked near the building were damaged in the fire.

Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the blaze, while ensuring that all occupants were safely evacuated from the premises.
