Delhi, 13 April 2026: IndianOil categorically clarifies that the LPG distribution ecosystem in India is robust, transparent, and technology-driven, with multiple safeguards in place to ensure delivery exclusively to genuine domestic consumers.
In response to recent media reports alleging systemic irregularities in LPG cylinder deliveries, IndianOil wishes to state the following:
No Systemic ‘Ghost Delivery’ Issue
Allegations of so-called ‘ghost deliveries’ are not systemic in nature. While a few isolated complaints regarding delivery discrepancies have been reported, these instances are sporadic and not indicative of any systemic failure. The LPG distribution network continues to efficiently serve lakhs of households daily across the country.
Any instance where a delivery is marked without actual receipt by the consumer is treated as a serious violation. Such cases are promptly investigated, and where lapses are established, strict disciplinary action is taken.
Strong Authentication Mechanism (DAC/OTP-Based Delivery)
IndianOil has implemented a robust Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system to ensure that LPG cylinders are delivered only after verified customer confirmation:
IndianOil maintains comprehensive digital tracking of LPG cylinders from bottling plants to final delivery, significantly minimising the possibility of diversion or unauthorised handling.
Consumers are advised to:
IndianOil remains fully committed to ensuring a safe, reliable, and transparent LPG supply to all consumers across the country. Robust systems, continuous monitoring, and strict enforcement mechanisms are firmly in place to safeguard consumer interests. We urge all stakeholders to rely on official communications and verified information before drawing conclusions.
