Delhi Traffic Police Conduct Special Drive to Clear Encroachments Near Domestic Airport, Issue 331 E-Challans

Delhi Traffic Police conducted a week-long enforcement drive near Delhi Domestic Airport with support from Delhi International Airport Limited, issuing 331 e-challans and towing 63 vehicles to reduce congestion.

New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police carried out a special joint enforcement drive in the Domestic Airport area to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother movement for passengers travelling to and from the airport.

The drive was conducted in coordination with Delhi International Airport Limited, the GMR Group, and residents of Mehram Nagar village. The initiative aimed to remove roadside encroachments and regulate illegal parking that often disrupts traffic flow near the airport.

During the week-long operation, officials targeted unauthorized hawkers, rehris (street carts), and vehicles parked in violation of traffic rules along key approach roads to the airport.

According to officials, the enforcement action resulted in:

  • 5 special drives conducted

  • 331 e-challans issued

  • 89 VoCA actions taken

  • 63 vehicles towed

  • 9 rehris removed from roadsides

The on-ground operation was led by Traffic Inspector Devender Tomar along with a team of traffic personnel who supervised the enforcement measures and coordinated with local stakeholders.

Officials from Delhi International Airport Limited actively supported the drive, while the RAXA team provided manpower assistance during the operation.

Local representatives from Mehram Nagar village also extended cooperation. Village Pradhan Surender Kumar, along with community members Manoj Kumar, Sanjay Sharma, Abhisek Lohia (Bittoo), and Rampal, assisted authorities in ensuring the smooth conduct of the drive.

The Delhi Traffic Police said the initiative received positive support from local residents and airport authorities, who welcomed the effort to decongest the area and improve traffic conditions.

Authorities emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue in the future to keep critical areas like airport approach roads free from illegal parking and encroachments, ensuring safer and more convenient travel for commuters.
